There was a birthday today on my step mother’s side of the family, my cousin’s. She was gifted with a kinetic sand kit and of course, I started to play with it as well. As I was playing with it, I became more and more fascinated. It was also quite therapeutic. I might even ask for it as a gift this Christmas. Not the point, but as I was fascinated by this sand, I also came to a huge realization.

When I was ten years old, my parents split after moving halfway across the country. It may sound dramatic, but my ten-year-old self definitely felt ‘woe is me’ after leaving my best friend. Not only that, but I had to get accustomed to everything. Everything was different. 

My parents divorce was hard and not a nice one. Things were always said that made it hard for me to trust either parent. My parents eventually decided to create lives with different people. That was definitely hard for me as well. But then it gave me a chance to meet incredible people who brought light into my life, like my stepmother and her family. 

She’s truly incredible and is such a Godly woman. I believe that God brought her into my life when I needed it the most. 

Kinetic sand very much reminded me of that time in my life. No matter how much you pull it apart, it can still come back together.
